Sydney Plaxico, Elisha Tribble and Phyllis Carstarphen’s Sugar Cookies

Three sweet generations of baking ladies have been making their famous Iced Sugar Cookies for years, and they’re always in high demand during the holidays! This is a slightly longer cooking video, but be sure to watch to the end to appreciate Sydney’s important role in the process.

Cookie Ingredients:

6 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, butter-vanilla flavoring “butter-van”, 2 cups butter, softened, 2 eggs

Icing Ingredients:

10 heaping cups sifted confectioner’s sugar, 2 tbsp light corn syrup, 1 tbsp butter-van, 2 cups hot water with 1 tsp. of salt dissolved (to add as needed for desired consistency!), gel paste food coloring
